Hotel Elisabeth von Eicken
in Ahrenshoop (Baltic Sea)
All the trademark features of the former Ahrenshoop artist colony are brought together in the Elisabeth von Eicken hotel – extraordinary architecture, a unique gallery, a fine restaurants and hotel rooms that are artworks in their own right. In 1997 the dilapidated house, former home and studio of painter Elisabeth von Eicken (1862-1940), was taken over by two architects and gallery owner Sabine Peters-Barenbrocks. The project of turning the building into a gallery, restaurant and hotel was completed in 1999. Paintings and sculptures are on display in the garden as well as in the building, with an outdoor sculpture by Berlin artists Hubertus von der Goltz creating an especially striking impression.
